Professionals uit verschillende literaire disciplines gingen met elkaar in gesprek over de industrie waarin ze zich bewegen

During the CELA Assembly Week in Madrid, an edition of Conversations was organized for all partners and participants of the European network. Professionals from different literary disciplines and from different backgrounds discussed the industry in which they operate. The program was divided into two rounds, both moderated by director of De Nieuwe Oost | Wintertuin Frank Tazelaar, and introduced by video contributions from experts from the literary sector. The first round focused on the impact of the pandemic on literary infrastructure and the changes, whether lasting or not, it has brought on, with a particular focus on translation. The video contributions were provided by literary translator and International Booker Prize winner Michele Hutchison and Arnaud Pasquali, European Commission policy officer on literary developments.
The panellists of the first round were Michala Čičváková (Internal Cooperation Coordinator at Czech organization CzechLit), Helena Zemljič (writer and editor), Ilija Stevanovski (literary translator, interpreter and teacher) and Ilke Froyen (director of Passa Porta).
The second round, Writing in interesting times, addressed the question of how we, as literary sector, relate to society, what role social projects play and what this means for the role of authors. The video introductions were provided by Anne Bergman-Tahon (director of the Federation of European Publishers) and Noortje Kessels (social projects coordinator at Wintertuin).
The panellists of the second rounds were Martino Gozzi (director of Italian creative writing school Scuola Holden), Javier Sagarna (director of Escuela de Escritores in Madrid and president of the European Association of Creative Writing Programs (EACWP), Lavinia Braniște (noveler, short story and children’s book writer), Vladimir Arsenijević (Artistic Director at KROKODIL Serbian Literature Festival) and Elżbieta Foltyniak (Project Manager at Kraków UNESCO City of Literature).

Tijdens de Montageweek van CELA in Madrid, werd een editie van Conversations georganiseerd voor alle partners en deelnemers van het Europese netwerk. Professionals afkomstig uit verschillende literaire disciplines en met verschillende achtergronden gingen met elkaar in gesprek over de industrie waarin ze zich bewegen. Het programma was opgedeeld in twee rondes, beiden gemodereerd door directeur van De Nieuwe Oost | Wintertuin Frank Tazelaar, en ingeleid door video-bijdragen van experts uit de literaire sector.

De eerste ronde concentreerde zich op de invloed van de pandemie op literaire infrastructuur en de al dan niet blijvende veranderingen die deze met zich mee heeft gebracht, met een bijzondere focus op vertaling. De videobijdragen werden geleverd door literair vertaler en winnaar van de
International Booker Prize Michele Hutchison en Arnaud Pasquali, beleidsmedewerker bij de Europese Commissie op het gebied van literaire ontwikkelingen. De panelleden van de eerste ronde waren Michala Čičváková (coördinator Inernationale Samenwerking bij Tsjechische organisatie CzechLit), Helena Zemljič (schrijver en redacteur), Ilija Stevanovski (literair vertaler, tolk en docent) en Ilke Froyen (directeur van Passa Porta).
De tweede ronde, Writing in interesting times, ging in op de vraag hoe we ons als literaire sector verhouden tot de maatschappij, welke rol sociale projecten daarin spelen en wat dit betekent voor de rol die auteurs vervullen. De video-introducties werden verzorgd door Anne Bergman-Tahon (directeur van de Federation of European Publishers) en Noortje Kessels (coördinator sociale projecten bij Wintertuin).
De panelleden van de tweede ronden waren Martino Gozzi (directeur van Italiaanse creative writing-opleiding Scuola Holden), Javier Sagarna (directeur van Escuela de Escritores in Madrid en voorzitter van de European Association of Creative Writing Programmes (EACWP), Lavinia Braniște (romancier, korteverhalen- en kinderboekenschrijver), Vladimir Arsenijević (artistiek directeur bij Servisch literatuurfestival KROKODIL) en Elżbieta Foltyniak (projectmanager bij Kraków UNESCO City of Literature).
